One thing I have learnt in my life is that nothing worhwhile comes easy; nothing of value is given to your on a plate! In all of my endeavours I have noticed that if I wanted something really badly, then somehow I got it…not dropped in my lap, but achieved after months, sometimes years of hard work and application. But here is the crunch, if I wanted someting badly enough, and I worked on ita step at a time, then sooner, rather than later I reached my goal!

The easiest way to do this is using a diary or journal to record and analyse your progress and set yourself long term and short term goals!  Break down these goals into simple manageable steps which you carry out one at a time! Then review your progress regulalry cross off the targets you heve me and set new ones if you have achieved them OR re-evaluate the ones you might have missed. You might need more time then you anticipated, for instance. Whatever happens,  particularly if you are not havng much success at the beginning,  is to be consistent, and don't give up!

Success comes with hard work and persistence.

I've had two pieces of good news this week. On Tuesday my daughter learned she had been awarded her Phd and long years of study. Sha has a job already in a niche she enjoys and will graduate from her University when her husband completes his Phd in a few months time. 

The other news is that today I attended my son's degree graduation ceremony at a top University in the UK. It was an amazing experience. Being a traditional and ancient University the ceremony was conducted in Latin, so often reffered to as a 'dead' lanuage but now coming back very much into fashion. As I listened to the words being spoken (I don't speak much Latin) its amazing how much you can pick up and understand. After all Latin is the root of so many European languages.

As I filled with pride this week, I remember the words I spoke to my children when both were deciding courses and had doubts that they would get a place at their chosen University. I advised them both when the time arose,"You will never get in unless you apply!"

Neither of them found their respective courses and paths plain sailing. Times were tough and they won't mnd me saying that tears were shed and doubts were raised when parts of their studies were difficult and arduous. But we were there to keep them on track,offer an ear to listen and advise and support them through the tough times.

Today has brought to mind several lesson in life for me.

• You will never achieve anything unless you try
• Success never happens overnight
• Taking a few risks can yield great results in the long term
• Never give up until you have achieved your goal.
• When tmes get tough, seek help and support from friend and family

One of the best ways we can succeed in anything we do whether is be studies, work, marketing, leisure activities or whatever, is to set clear goals, work towards them one step at a time, be persistent.

I'm going to enjoy my proud moment I hope you have many such moments too!
